I own a 2007 Tahoe Q4 fish & ski which other than an issue with hull is in exceptional shape. The motor and lower unit are in excellent shape.

The cushions are not fading or cracking again in excellent shape.

There is no fading on the gelcoat and only minor scratches at all as it has always been kept in a inside storage unit.

A couple of weeks ago I took my boat out and noticed that I was taking on water. After taking it out of the water I noticed a crack in the gelcoat under the boat that I normally wouldn't see unless I crawled under the trailer.

I thought I must have hit something however, when I took it to a marine facility that specializes in fiberglass and gelcoat repair I was told that the boat had not hit an underwater object. The problem was that the hull had failed due to stress or fatigue probably due to a manufacturing issue that had been going on for awhile. The damage is quite extensive to the tune of about $14,000.00 to repair which is more than what the value of the boat is.

I put this through my insurance.

I thought they would probably total the boat, which is a crying shame, but at least I could get fair value for the boat and look at purchasing another.

At first the insurance company was working with me but then they changed and said they would not cover the damage as it was structural failure and not due to a collision.

I reached out to Tracker corporation and explained that although I have taken excellent care of this boat, I was now out of a boat due to what appears to be a manufacturing or quality control issue when it was built.

I see much older boats that are poorly taken care of that do not have this type of issue. I was basically told by Tracker that they were sorry to hear it but it was out of warranty, which yes I know it is, and thanks for buying their product.

I'm not sure what would be the right thing to do from Tracker's point of view, I'm not looking for a free boat, but obviously they would rather ignore this than try to offer any help at all.
